Crushing on HGTV's 'Fixer Upper'

My husband wishes I was more like Joanna Gaines.  I wish I was married to Joanna Gaines.

I adore people who are talented.  I especially adore people who work hard honing and sharing their talents.  It's inspiring.  And because I believe fervently that comparison to and jealousy of others are life suckers, I look to the Joanna Gaines of the world to provide an example of achievement.  She's 35 years old, has four children, runs both a brick and mortar shop and an online shop, as well as a real estate, contracting, design business with her husband.  Their show on HGTV is entertaining in its honesty.

Now there is no way on God's beautiful green earth that I could do what she does.  I couldn't handle the stress.  I know this about myself.  I also like privacy, and the anonymity that not being famous provides.

Is it hard to watch their success and not want something like that in my life?  Not really, I just want her house.

I love her house.

Seriously. Check out her house: http://magnoliahomes.net/the-farmhouse/

Success may be different for everybody, but something I'm seeing in all successful people is passion, and passion doesn't look all that different in anybody.

My success these days is keeping up with my babies and attempting to write now and again. And when I write, I try to get it right.  I choose every word.  Carefully.  Because what I'm thinking in my head needs to get out, and it needs to get out in a way that I'm hoping conveys universal feelings.  So I'm pretty passionate about that.  Is anyone reading me?  No.
But I'm okay with that. Won't stop me from writing.

  1. I believe this is who you were asking me about tonight. Because I don't do regular TV (only Netflix and Hulu Plus w/ free Redbox codes when already out), I was uninformed. Five years ago when I did still do a TV service, I was an HGTV lover and would of totally liked this woman and her show.
